The corona pandemic is hitting the catering, bar and restaurant world hard. Ever since March 20, the sector is in lockdown, and for the moment, it’s unclear when business will be able to resume their activities. The economic consequences are enormous. That’s why the initiative #HorecaComeback wants to support food entrepreneurs not just symbolically, but also by offering consumers the possibility to buy vouchers for their favorite restaurant, bistro or bar. This way, #HorecaComeback is giving them some financial breathing room. The initiative was an overnight hit. Only 12 days after the launch, 5.300 business had already registered and 7.500 had been sold for a total sum of more than 350.000 euros. The initiative generated a total of € 1,033,953 !
The initiative was launched regardless of competition. Soda giants, breweries, food and food service companies and Pubmarket! worked together to launch the online support platform #HorecaComeback. On there, the Belgian consumers can safely buy vouchers for their favorite restaurant or bistro and give financial breathing room to food professionals.
The proceeds of the vouchers will be integrally given to food professionals, who get to register for free. This project, on of the biggest support programs ever for the Belgian restaurant business, is not only supported by companies but also by professional organizations like Flanders Tourism, Horeca Flanders and their Walloon equivalents.
As the communication partner for multiple food and food service businesses, Pubmarket! actively collaborates on #HorecaComeback. Pubmarket! was responsible for the initiative’s visual identity and supports the social media communication.
